About SPICMACAY's Virasat..

  Virasat is an annual cultural extravaganza reaching out to over 300 cities across the country, starting from August and continues till late December. Virasat is a series of cultural events potraying our rich and diverse cultural heritage. Virasat includes classical music and dance, crafts, theatre,workshops and intensives, yoga and meditation, holistic food and walks to heritage sites . Virasat includes about 1000 events scheduled for schools and colleges in India(mainly) and abroad too.

Virasat 2009 will be Inaurgated on 27th August with recitals by Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia and Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar. Other great maestros who will be performing in this series are Pt. Birju Maharaj, Pt. Shivkumar Sharma, Pt. Vishwamohan Bhatt, Pt. Rajan & Sajan Mishra, Smt. Madhavi Mudgal, Smt. Shovana Narayan, Us.Fahimuddin Dagar, Guru Ghanakanta Bora, Smt. N.Rajam, Smt. Ashwini Bhide Deshpande, Pt. Debu Chaudhuri, Smt. Teejan Bai, Shri Krushna Chandra Sahu among others.
This series has been dedicated to Us.Ali Akbar Khan , Smt. D.K.Pattamal, Smt. Gangubai Hangal, Sh. Habib Tanvir, Shri Vishnu Prabhakar, Shri Tyeb Mehta and Shri Palaghat Raghu. Virasat will aim at inspiring the younger generation and bring out the varied aspects of our composite heritage to them.
