The NSIT Chapter believes in the spirit of real exploration, of things that are relatively unknown to one, instead of condemning them outright as “not my cup of tea”. For us, SPICMACAY has always been about keeping your mind open to things that might seem alien at first. Sadly, the fact is that OUR heritage, OUR music, OUR culture, indeed, OUR VIRASAT, is alien to most of us. Most of us were initiated into this movement by this simple yet profound maxim: “Give it a chance to show you its worth”.
SPICMACAY NSIT chapter has been one of the most active and vibrant chapters across the country. We have organized week long programs for the past 3 years. In 2002, we were privileged to host the all India Inaugural of SPICMACAY Virasat Series. 2003 and 2004 saw us being part of the memorable Virasat Series events again. Then after a brief lull, the Chapter returned to action, with a successful Fest series in the February and April of 2006. Eminent artistes such as Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia, and Smt Shovana Narayan among others have performed at our college over the years. Continuing the spirit, we had successfully conducted Virasat & Fest series in 2007.
In 2008 we got the honor of conducting Overnight along with the celebration of 25th anniversary of our College . Artistes like Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Ustad Asad Ali Khan, Ustad Fahimuddin Dagar & Ustad Abdul Rashid Khan are the artistes performed during back to back events on Overnight. The NSIT chapter has always offered a gamut of activities in the college. Besides classical music and dance we have also organized yoga workshops, puppet theatre, film festivals and lecture-demonstrations of various classical art forms.
