From NSIT Motorsports to HNMUN 2011, Samarth Wadhwa holds an impeccable reputation of a go-getter .Graduated in 2011 with a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Samarth is currently pursuing his post-graduation from IIM-Kozhikode.
Speaking about the beautiful IIM - Kozhikode campus, for Samarth it is an assemblage of trailblazers who have aced their respective fields. “Consistency is the underlined philosophy here at Kozhikode”, says Samarth.
As far as the preparation goes, fifth semester is the right time to start the preparations to get the knack of things. While choosing the right institute is equally important, choice can be based on personal requirements, student-teacher ratio, unchanging faculty, et al. Besides it is imperative to solve the assignments religiously and reading, as it widens the spectrum of one’s knowledge.
Coming to the key pointers, he advises that it is wise to tackle the fears first, as he goes, “Students tend to leave topics like Permutation and Combination and Probability for the last minute, but mastering them earlier saves you from the last minute rush, fetching you better results. More so, CAT is more of common sense”.
Post calls, he adds, it is extremely important to have general awareness about happenings in the world. Newspaper, per se, collection of most of the knowledge needed and joining some institute for further enhancement definitely helps. Talking about his extempore at Faculty of Management Studies, it was an abstract topic. The key evaluation is based on ones ideas and how well they are linked. No emphasis is laid on ones fluency or flowery language as such, but yes confidence matters!! “Education is a noble thing. But not everything worth knowing can be taught”, being his essay topic at IIM-K, again should be well thought of and structured.
“Totally a moment to rejoice!” says he, when he received the news of his final selection.
In the end Samarth urges everyone “to make the most of the opportunities coming your way. Do not be afraid because of your apprehensions about yourself. Don’t try to be jack of all trades, instead know yourself and look for excellence”. With each word so apt, as the saying goes, “Rest if you must, but do not quit”.
