General Advice

Prashasti Singh,a 2009 pass out from ECE NSIT placed in Deloitte shares her experience.......

Preparation:
For Consultancies and Analytics Firms I majorly relied on my CAT preparation. For interviews I studied each aspect of my resume very well. For puzzles I solved the questions on www.techinterview.org and similar sites. For case studies you can find a number of case guides on the internet (Vault, HBS, Wharton, Cornell ).

Recruitment Procedure: Deloitte

About 200 candidates appeared for Deloitte. It was the first Consultancy to visit the campus. The Company’s Presentation was really very impressive.
Deloitte offered two profiles in NSIT-
•    Technology Integration – Deloitte Consulting LLP
•    Security & Privacy Services- Deloitte & Touche LLP
I appeared for the Technology Integration Profile.

Round 1
- Written Aptitude Test: Round 1 was same for both the profiles. The paper had three sections VA ,Quant and DI. The difficulty level was not great but those preparing for CAT had a clear advantage.

Round 2
- Group Case Study: After the written test the shortlisted candidates were divided into groups of 6-7. Each group was given a case study and had to come up with a solution in 20 minutes. The discussion was supervised by a member of the recruitment team. After this, each group had to present its solution to a three member panel. There were no eliminations after this round

Tip:  Group case studies are different from a group discussion. It is important that you work as a team and come up with a practical solution. They want to see your analytical approach, communication/presentation skills, your contribution in a team and more importantly Lateral Thinking. So rather than contradicting your team members and trying to outsmart them, focus on coming up with unconventional ideas and incorporating everyone’s suggestion into the final solution.

Round 3
- Personal Interview: All the candidates had a 20 minutes PI after this round. It was a combination of both technical and HR questions. The interviewer had studied my resume well and grilled me on my internships and extracurricular activities.  I was asked to give a detailed overview of my project at Avaya Global Connect Ltd and the subsequent PPO. The objective was to see if I am confident about my work and that I am able to communicate it to him well. He then asked me about my involvement with the Choreography team and Moksha. He asked me about my growth within the team, the leadership roles I had acquired, the challenges I faced and the strategies I used. He also asked me to relate myself with Shahrukh Khan in Chak De and tell him how I’ll use his principles within my team. After this, there were questions like what I’ll bring to Deloitte, what do I expect from Deloitte, what I think is most important for me at my workplace, if I understand the profile well or not etc..

Tip: A good resume is very important. Be very sure about what all you have written on your resume. DO NOT LIE. Be prepared. A lot of questions are predictable. Be confident. And please do not panic if your interviewer doesn’t smile too much.
